岡村靖幸を想像するとき、多くのベイベはメガネ＆スーツ姿のあの岡村ちゃんを思い浮かべるだろう。黒縁メガネに、ビシッとした黒のスーツでデンスする岡村ちゃん。ネクタイを締め、ポケットチーフも施し、まるでこれから結婚式に出席するかのようなフォーマルっぷりだ。
この岡村ちゃんの姿は、今やすっかり定着した。
しかし、ふと思う。いつまでやるのだろう？

いつから、メガネ＆スーツ姿になったのか
岡村靖幸が現在のスタイルとして登場したのは2011年のエチケットツアーからだ。現在は2021年なので実に10年間同じスタイルを貫き通していることになる。10年間同じ格好というのはなかなか凄いことだ。
そもそも、岡村靖幸は活動時期によって大きく見た目が変貌する人だった。
デビュー当時、「イエロー」の頃はとても瘦せていて髪はパーマで唇は腫れぼったい若造という感じだった。アルバム「靖幸」の頃は短めのサラサラヘアーの好青年で、わずか1年後の「家庭教師」ではバブリーでナルなキムタク状態で、「ファンシーゲリラ」では大木凡人状態で…。
今思えば、「イエロー」から「ファンシーゲリラ」ってわずか5年くらいの期間なのに、その間に何度もイメチェンをしている。同じ人物とは思えないくらいに変化する男、それが岡村靖幸なのだ。
そんな岡村靖幸が同じスタイルで10年間活動し続けるというのは特筆すべきことだ。
だって、この10年間「エチケット」でも「将来の夢」でも「マキャベリン」でもどこを切り取ってもまるで金太郎あめのように同じスタイルの岡村ちゃんが出てくるのだから、これは異様だ。
現在のスタイルの理由は一つ前のスタイルにあり？
現在のスタイルの一つ前の岡村靖幸をご存じだろうか？
いわゆるパーカー時代である。発色の良い赤や緑のビッグサイズの「76」のロゴが特徴的なパーカーを着用していたころの岡村ちゃんだ。とても不健康に太っていて、目の下にはデンジャーなクマがあって
いかにも…という印象の時代。
岡村靖幸について語るとき「シンポジウム」「ミイミ」時代はあまり触れたくない暗黒の時期だ。それは、ベイベにとっても、そして、きっと岡村靖幸自身にとっても（個人的にはこの頃にファンになったので僕にとっては当時の岡村ちゃんは思い出深く大切なのだけれども）そうだろう。
「パーカー時代」から決別するためのスーツ
暗黒時代の岡村靖幸を象徴するのが「パーカー」なのだ。
故にそれを払拭するためには、カジュアルでラフなパーカーの対極にあるスーツというアイテムが岡村靖幸には必要だったのだ。メガネにスーツにネクタイにポケットチーフ。そして髪は短めに綺麗にセッティングされているフォーマルスタイル。
「もう不良みたいなことはしない」「これからは真っ当に生きる」という決意表明であり、10年以上このスタイルを続けている理由はいまだにその決意表明が風化せず、形骸化せず、岡村靖幸のなかに息づいているひとつの証拠なのではないだろうか。

岡村靖幸の影響をふんだんに受けているミッチーこと及川光博も最近フォーマルなスーツ姿が多いような気がする。これはもしかして、岡村靖幸の影響なのか、半沢直樹の影響なのか、それとも若かりし頃ナルを極めた人は齢を重ねるとスーツに行き着くのものなのだろうか？
僕は96年あたりの岡村さんが印象深いですね。ふくよかな体にパーマがかったロン毛で男目線としてはワイルドでかっこいいと思ってしまいます。
そういえばこの96年あたりから現在に近い声に変わった印象があります。
小室さんの番組に出ていた当たりの時期でしょうか。最もふくよかだった時期ですね。
個人的に、ロン毛の岡村ちゃんはもう一度見てみたいです。
初めてお目に掛かった靖幸は現在のスーツスタイルだったので、若靖幸を見たときはとても驚きました。
’88のかわいい靖幸、’91のセクシー靖幸とのギャップがたまりません。
若いころは、服装から髪型まで、毎回違ってたので、見た目でどの時代の岡村ちゃんかが把握できますけど、スーツスタイルになってからはそれが難しいですね。
