「全然うれしくない。うれしいって思う人の気が知れない、はっきり言って」
皆さんは「人間的に普通ですね」と言われると嬉しいですか？
僕は、仕事をする上だったり、エチケットやマナーに関しては人間的に普通でありたいと思うが、それ以外の場面であれば、どちらかと言えば「個性的」でありたいし「変わっている」と思われたいタイプだ。
なぜ、そう思うのかと言えば、自分があまりにも普通なことを知っているから。
マスプロダクツのように悲しいまでに平凡で普通なのを知っているからこそ「ちょっと変わってますねぇ」という言葉を誉め言葉としてありがたく頂戴できるのだ。
「普通ですね」と言われて嬉しく感じる岡村靖幸は自分が「変わっている」ことを心の奥底では自覚しているのではないだろうか？
というわけで、本日の記事では「岡村靖幸と普通」というテーマでいろいろと考えてみたいと思う。
普通への憧れ
以前、「サブカルのすすめ」というブログで「真夜中のサイクリング」のPVレビューを書いた時、岡村靖幸は平凡で普通の幸せみたいなものに対して強い憧れがあるのではないだろうか？という記事を書いた。

結局このＰＶに登場する人たちのようなフツーな感じの幸せ…ありきたりで平凡だけど、まあそこそこ幸せな生活、みたいな。そういうものへの羨望が現れているのではないだろうか。有名人でもないし特別な才能もないしお金もそれほど無いけど、そんな環境の中でも、自ら脇役に志願せず、ささやかに生活してフツーに幸せな人々、そういう人たちに対しての憧れが岡村靖幸にはあるのではないか。岡村靖幸が過去のインタビューで口癖のように言っている「ミュージシャンとしての岡村靖幸を知らない女性と付き合いたい」というのも、要は「フツーの幸せ」への憧れと希求が集約された言葉のように感じる。
岡村靖幸がマヨサイを作った時期は既にクスリにどっぷり手を出していた時期だろうから、自らを省みて、クスリを辞められないでいる自分なんかが結婚して子供を産んで幸せな家庭を築くなんて無理なんじゃないか、と絶望していたのではないだろうか。そんなヘヴィーな絶望を抱えながら、まるで祈るような心持ちで作った曲が「真夜中のサイクリング」なような気がする。

考えてみれば岡村靖幸は多くの一般の人々が通過儀礼のように行う事柄をパスしている。

普通の人が普通にしていることを経験していないという事実は、コンプレックスにつながる。
どうしても中卒や高卒だと大卒に対して引け目を感じたり、また、逆に攻撃的になったりする。

最近の若者は車に執着しないが、岡村靖幸の世代だと車の免許がないことは大問題だ。女性に相手にされないだけでなく、男同士でも車の話題になることは多いのでコンプレックスを抱えやすい。
ちなみに僕は自動車免許は20歳で取得したが、実際に車に乗るようになったのは30歳からなので、20代の頃は、車を運転している人に対して引け目や劣等感があったものだ。

岡村靖幸はどんなに酔っても告白できない。いまだ独身。もちろん子供なし。岡村靖幸は今年で56歳なので、結婚願望の強い岡村靖幸にとって、現在の独身生活は孤独なのかもしれない。

あえて逆行している？
岡村靖幸は「普通」を強く求めているはずなのに、むしろ自分から「普通」を遠ざけているように感じる。
だって、自動車免許なんて取ろうと思えば簡単に取れる。
いくら告白できないと言っても岡村靖幸は有名アーティストであり顔も良い。
多くの人が深刻な問題として抱えるルッキズムに関しての（肥満だった時期もあるが）悩みとは無縁だし、お金だって一般のサラリーマンよりは稼いでいるだろう。
岡村靖幸のスペックを持ってすれば結婚なんて正直余裕のはず。
今からでも自分次第ですぐに獲得できる「普通」が目の前にあるにもかかわらず、スルーしているように見える。
手さえ伸ばせば、手に入れられるはずの「普通の幸せ」。
なぜ、スルーするのだろうか？
コンプレックスを歌にしている
岡村靖幸は、通過儀礼をパスすること（あるいはパスしてきたこと）から生まれたコンプレックスを種に作品が生まれてきた側面がある。そして、そのコンプレックス由来の作品たちは、多くの人から称賛され「天才」というこれ以上ない称号で呼ばれるほどに、だ。
自動車免許を取ってベンツに乗って、誰もが羨む若くて美人な女性と結婚して子供が出来て幸せな生活をして、この世の全てを手に入れたかのような自信満々の岡村靖幸になってしまったら、それはもう我々が愛している岡村靖幸ではない。
そんな岡村靖幸が歌う「友人のふり」や「だいすき」には何の説得力もないし感動できない。
とはいえ、普通に幸せになってもらいたい
とはいえ、今年で56歳である。もう、いい加減、その手を伸ばして、すぐにでも手に入れられる普通の幸せを獲得してほしい。
結婚して子供作ってよ。そしたら十数年後には
岡村靖幸の息子がデビュー。全米激震の才能！
なんてニュースが飛び込んでくるかもしれないよ。
岡村さんは若い頃から結婚願望を口にしてますね。吉川晃司さんも「あいつは結婚願望が強い。おれはないけど。」と仰ってました（そういう吉川さんは40代で結婚されたわけですが。）なぜか周りを見ても意外な人が早々に結婚したり、結婚願望のある人ほど、独身だったりします。
岡村さんは50代で運転免許証を取られたわけですが、そのバイタリティーは凄いですね。
